It irritates me how Taufik Batisah & Sylvester Sim always appear together in public appearances. They're always referred to as 'the Singapore Idols'. Last I checked, the top spot was won by Taufik with a huge difference in the votes, and Sylvester was merely a runner-up. Since when is he an Idol too? I thought the competition was called Singapore Idol, not Singapore IdolS. Although the competition was held a year ago, they're both(yes both) still hot around Singapore and have both(yes BOTH) clinched recording deals(Taufik's album gained good sales amongst Idol fans).

Taufik was clearly the better singer, which is why he deserves to be the winner. Sylvester got to where he is because of votes - many Chinese Ah Lians, Ah Bengs & aunties supported him(he even looks & speaks like an Ah Beng himself, I always grimace when I hear him pronounce 'the' as 'de'). Taufik is into R&B, Sylvester rock. Still, rock fans will agree that Sylvester is simply a poser. Even when he sang 'It's My Life' in the finals, he sounded like some Ah Beng trying too hard to sound rrrraaawwwkkkkk. Taufik has a universal quality to his voice, Sylvester probably in the local Lian-and-Beng market. So why the heck does he get more credit than he deserves?

I'm not being biased(for the fact that Taufik was my ex-schoolmate or that he speaks Malay too), but facts are facts. A loser doesn't deserve to be called a winner...does he?

Yup, it always irritates me when he is referred to as a Singapore Idol. The first and currently one & only Singapore Idol is Taufik Batisah. Go Taufik. You may not rrraaawwwkkkkk, but you rock.
